Fulfillment
Fulfillment is returning to fullness of our being. Where both the inner divine reality and the outer mundane reality come together so that life is lived 100% on the inside and 100% on the outside.
|
What is real is recognized as being the same everywhere at all times. The Ascendant is recognized to be the Self that lives through the entire creation undivided.
Our mind probes the world we live in through the senses
and attempts to make some sense out of it. It tries to fill the inner emptiness with what it sees and feels. It does all it can in pursuing the goal of fulfillment in this life. The natural tendency of the mind is to move toward greater happiness and that is what it does. As long as we are content with searching the world for answers and the desired fulfillment the inner emptiness will never transform into fullness.
And yet the fulfillment is not in renouncing the world either which more often leads only to repression and not real freedom.
The fulfillment comes with knowing the Ascendant and with our own focus and choice allowing that to become a primary reality within us. As it is the all pervading reality and the source of everything it will naturally take its place in our life as we let go more into it. The fulfillment comes in knowing the Ascendant both as an inner unchanging reality but also as unchanging essence of the physical world. That way our life is not depending on the changing phenomenal experience but in the solid awareness of our true nature as the Ascendant.
Nataraja Ishaya
The Natural Tendency
Creatures follow their own nature,
Even the enlightened man acts
According to his own nature.
What can restraint accomplish?
This verse brings out the truth that freedom from bondage is gained in a natural manner. The lord denies the validity of control on the path of enlightenment. He means to introduce a natural way of life for fulfillment. In the field of activity, it is not desirable to create stress and strain by attempting control either from within or from without. Let everyone proceed naturally, complementing the state of transcendental consciousness gained during meditation with the activity of daily routine, and so be to win fulfillment.
Because the natural tendency of the mind is to towards greater happiness, it will inevitably find contentment in the supreme happiness that is transcendental bliss-consciousness and will rise above ‘attachment’, which is the basis of bondage. In condemning ‘restraint’, the lord, in this verse, advises Arjuna to take things easily and not strain even to follow the teaching. Restraint, being unnatural, cannot bring about that natural state of life where the Self stands by Itself in the sate of non-attachment, uninvolved with activity.
Maharishi Mahesh Yogi
Enlightenment Pada II, Sutra 13
As long as the root exists, it matures into birth, life and experience.
As long as deep stress continues, it will create manifestations. These manifestations will endure for a certain time (they will have a certain life expectancy); each will cause certain experiences to manifest. Just as in the case of tenacious weed that does not die when pulled up but sprouts again from the root, just so the stress in the nervous system will create again its corresponding desires which lead to the actions which will reinforce the stress.

As we Ascend the body naturally releases stresses and toxins that have accumulated over time. To support the body in this process of healing it is good to drink enough water. Water helps the body to flush away the toxins quickly and they do not linger in the body longer than necessary.
Ascending does everything for us but it is wise to take care of the body and give it what it needs. Drinking plenty of water is suggested especially during the retreats and teacher training because of the longer times spent eyes closed Ascending.

 |
This is exactly why it is so frightfully difficult to break any self-destructive pattern without Ascending – it is not possible (or at least extremely difficult) to go beyond any deep stress sufficiently to dislodge it and free the nervous system for new freedom and accomplishment without expansion of consciousness.
The new root of the experience of the Ascendant also leads to new birth, life and experience. In this case, however, what is being born is the uninterrupted experience of joy; what lives is Eternal Freedom in Divine Consciousness; what is experienced is fulfillment in every area of human concern. Life is Heaven or life is hell is the consequence of exactly what our deepest root is.

The Fulfillment of Life
Personal love for a mother or a father, for a husband or wife, is simply symbolic of the concentrated state of universal love to which a cosmically evolved soul attains in a state of devotion to God. The love in a child’s heart for his toys, games and studies is spread over those objects, but his concentrated love is for his mother.
This is an analogy of the degree of love possible when, having attained a state of cosmic consciousness, one is devoted to God. A child’s innocent fancy has in it a certain amount of love and that love is concentrated in love for his mother. A student has a certain amount of love in his heart for various branches of learning, but all this love is concentrated in love for his teacher. A husband has a certain amount of love flowing in his heart towards many things in life, but he finds the concentrated state of all his love in love for his wife.
In the same way, a man with cosmic consciousness has an unbounded, unlimited amount of love overflowing in all directions for everything. When this overflowing, unlimited, unbounded, cosmic, universal love becomes concentrated in devotion to God, then that concentrated state of universal love is of such a degree as to bring ultimate fulfillment to life.
Far more concentrated is the state of cosmic consciousness in devotion to God than is any love that could ever be in any sphere of existence. To live in this state of concentrated, universal love is the ultimate fulfillment of life. It is the unbounded flow of love at the sight of everything, at the sound of everything, the smell or taste of anything, the touch of anything; the whole of life in its multifarious diversity is nothing but the fullness of love, bliss and contentment, eternal and absolute.

The Source of Fulfillment
John 6:35 I am the bread of life: he that cometh to me shall never hunger; and he that believeth on me shall never thirst.
John 7:37 If any man thirst, let him come unto me, and drink. He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water.
Hebrews 13:5 Be content with such things as ye have: for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee.
1Tim 6:6 But godliness with contentment is great gain. For we brought nothing into this world, and it is certain we can carry nothing out.
Isaiah 55: 1,2 Ho everyone that thirsteth, come ye to the waters, and he that hath no money; come ye, buy, and eat; yea, come, buy wine and milk without money and without price. Wherefore do ye spend money for that which is not bread? And your labour for that which satisfieth not? Hearken diligently unto me, and eat ye that which is good, and let your soul delight itself in fatness. Incline you ear, and come unto me: hear, and your soul shall live; and I will make an everlasting covenant with you, even the sure mercies of David.
