The Source

When we come to this world as babies much of our nourishment comes quite unimpeded from the Source of all things with grace and ease. And there is no real reason why this could not be the case for the years to come all the way into adult life. However, the world being created through a particular set of beliefs, we come to experience things a little differently. Slowly but surely the Source of love, stability and sustenance becomes something that is outside of us. Something that only works under specific conditions that we must learn to recognize and deal with.

There are a myriad of strategies that different people have chosen to use in order manipulate and safeguard whatever outer source they have come to know and use for their own benefit. Whatever that source may be, relationships, career, money, assets, fame and so on will eventually run dry. It is finite in its nature and will leave the individual with an inner knowing that something is still missing.

We might have the intellectual understanding by now that the only real Source of love or anything real is inside of us at all times. The intellectual understanding will not, however, change the fact that we still desperately cling onto whatever source of comfort or safety we have on the outside. It requires a choice to turn inward and begin to experience the inner space and the source of our thoughts and experiences. It requires the courage and the humility to give up the reliance on things that we have depended on all our lives since the childhood.

There is no way of doing this without moving toward the Ascendant on the inside. There is no way that you can completely turn toward the light of the sun without directing your eyes to see it. And once you see the Source of that light then you know and there are no more shadows lingering. It is not a great journey to take but a small shift in our awareness. The greatest treasure is the one closest to us. The one that we often choose to ignore and look for it where it is not.

True freedom and true independence begins with this choice to turn inward and in the beginning it may seem so small and insignificant. But as we move toward the Source in our hearts the power of That becomes more present and more tangible in our lives. It is within our potential to literally manifest things out of thin air only because the true Source of everything we see and experience is inside of us. As we stop denying the kingdom of God within us it becomes available to us. That is why Christ said "Seek ye first the kingdom of God and all else will be added unto you".

The Source of All That Is

The Ascendant is the sum total of everything that is. It is the Source and the Essence and the Goal of all that lives. This entire enormous Universe of one thousand billion galaxies (each containing an average of one hundred billion stars) is a part -- a small part -- of the Ascendant. Every human that exists, every human that has ever existed or will ever exist is a part of the Ascendant. Every plant, every animal, every grain of sand, every particle of energy, every impulse of rational thought, every emotion, every single thing in every level of creation is included within the Ascendant. There are no exceptions. Everything everywhere at every time, past present or future, is part of the Ascendant. There has never been nor will there ever be anything anywhere that is not part of the Ascendant.

Most people can, at least intellectually, grasp such a concept. But most also have a hard time conceiving of what that really means. And yet if an individual could do so, even for an instant, that individual would find his or her life permanently altered.

Modern physics is beginning to demonstrate that there exists an ultimately abstract Universal Reality. All of matter is reducible to energy; at the finest level of creation, energy is infinitely powerful and present everywhere. The ground state of quantum mechanics is universal, Omnipresent, bursting with Infinite creative energy and the source of all that is. The whole enormous Universe came from an area measuring 10(-43) centimeters in an instant of time fifteen to twenty billion years ago, or so we are told.

But what modern physics has not revealed to us is that this substratum of creation is in fact open to human awareness. There is not now, there has never been, there will never be a human who cannot experience the Ascendant. The state of health of the physical body is not relevant; the state of mental body -- the intellect, mind and the emotions -- is not relevant, the belief systems, habits and judgments about life, none of these are relevant. There are no requisites for the experience of the Ascendant, the Universal Source of all that is.

The Father Consciousness

In a thousand different places you keep searching for me, finding tidbits of information about me everywhere you go, though most of it turns out to be intangible an incomplete, failing to show the way to firsthand consciousness of my presence. Nevertheless, the restlessness in your soul motivates you to keep the search continuing; deep beneath your heart is tantalizing sureness that Oneness can be found. Yet I seem ever to elude, to stay just beyond reach, to lure you onward for a time and then desert you in some cul-de-sac of confusion and frustration.

All the while, I am so close to you I have been overlooked, you have taken me for granted until you no longer recognize me. As you reach outward hoping to find me, I hide in your mind, your heart, your soul, I hide in the consciousness within you.

For I am well of living waters, your reservoir of life force, and if you will learn to draw from my resources, eagerly and deliberately, these resources will increase and multiply until your entire being is transformed into a vessel unceasingly running over with holy radiance.

My presence as your inner consciousness is just as infinite as my unending presence in the cosmos all around you.

Pada I Sutra 25

The Ascendant, the Source of all knowledge, cannot be surpassed

It is not possible to go beyond the Infinite Ascendant. If it were, it would not be infinite. The Ascendant is the Source of everything, all knowledge, all thought, all that exists. This is how it is possible to rewrite the internal programs that limit individual consciousness. By experiencing the Absolute, all the previous impressions are purified. Since this is so, it becomes absurdly easy to transform life -- no problem, regardless how tenacious, can lie beyond the flawless subtlety of the Ascendant, and therefore no problem can be beyond the power of the Absolute to solve. Regardless how deeply we dig ourselves into difficulty and trouble, still beyond this is the Supreme, awaiting only our attention to heal us. Thus is the path to freedom from our problems utterly simple, whatever the problems may be -- take the awareness to the Ascendant, and there you are. All done for you, automatically.

Pada I Sutra 40

The Ascendant has dominion over every limit;
it is beyond the smallest and beyond the greatest.

The all-pervading nature of the Ascendant is here described. It lies beyond the furthest limit of the Universe; it is larger than the largest; yet it is also smaller than the smallest, more subtle than the subtlest. Remove every scrap of matter and energy and what is left is the Infinite. It is all-pervading and the same everywhere.

One who has stabilized the experience of the Ascendant consciousness knows the underlying Reality of everything. This is dominion; this is mastery. One has recognized the omnipresence of the Absolute -- not as a dry, intellectual understanding but as a direct, living, continual experience. The Ascendant is beyond space; it is also beyond time. There never was a time when it was not, nor will there ever be a time when it ceases to be. The world may end, the sun may burn out, the entire Universe may cease to exist, but still the One Ascendant will continue on, unchanging, forever.

The Sum of All Love

"The sum of all Love is the Great Principle, God. It is the sum of every affection, every fervent emotion, every loving thought, look, word, or deed. Every attracted love, great or small, sublime or low, makes the one infinite love stand forth and nothing is too great for us. As we love unselfishly, we have the complete ocean of Cosmic love with us. That which is thought least is the greatest as it sweeps on to absolute perfection; thus the whole Universe of Love is consciously with us. There is no greater power on earth or in heaven than pure love. Earth becomes heaven; heaven is humanity's true home.

"Finally the sum of every condition, every form, every being is the One Infinite Cosmic Principle, God, whether it be individuals, worlds, planets, stars, atoms, electrons, or the most minute particles. All together make One Infinite Whole, the body of which is the Universe, the Mind, Cosmic intelligence; the soul, Cosmic Love. Woven together with the cohesive force of love; yet each one functions in eternal individual identity, moving freely in its individual orbit and octave of harmony, attracted, drawn, and held together by the love of that universe of harmony. We constitute that Great Being that nothing can thwart. It is made up of every unit of the Universe. If a portion of one unit excludes itself from the whole, it makes no difference to Principle Being but it makes a vast difference to the unit. The ocean is not conscious of the removal of the drop of water but the drop is very conscious of the ocean when it is returned or reunited with it.

"It is not enough for us to say that we are close to the Great Cosmic Principle, God. We must know definitely that we are one with, in, and of, and amalgamated entirely with, Principle; and that we cannot be separated or apart from God, Principle. Thus we work with the principle of power, which is all power. It is the law that in Principle we live, move, and have our being. Thus, when we wish to come in contact with God, we do not think of something away from us and difficult to attain. All we need know is that God is within as well as all about us and that we are completely included in God; that we are consciously within the presence of God and are present in God and in command with full power. Thus we need not pause, we need not ponder; we take the path directly to God within. Here the Christ stands steadfast and supreme and with God we endure forever."
