True Prayer
Prayer is the language spoken in the silence of one’s own heart. It is a communication between the earthbound and the spirit. A bridge that if travelled often enough will bring those two together in eternal union.
Ascension is a form of prayer. It is the bridge between the universal mind and the individual mind. It is the bridge between the single human heart with the heart of God. Ishayas have been gracious enough to give us a tool that is simple and effective. That is not only a
communication with the pure consciousness but is in fact from the pure consciousness and brings the very essence of it into our surface awareness.
That is the purpose of a true prayer. To awaken what is real in us. To bring about the reality that Father and I are one. That we are not asking for something from this far off God in the distant heaven but recognizing our own presence as the same as the divine presence.
Ascension Attitudes remind every cell in our body of the perfect health. It shakes every nerve in our brain to shift into an upward current. It raises our thoughts, feelings and actions to a new height. Instead of asking God to come down to us we have been given a choice to rise to meet what is real. Facing our own true nature is facing the perfection of God’s creation. How subtle and how powerful that small shift in our minds can be.
There is more to Ascension, more to prayer than most have yet to realize. A sea of potential waiting to be tapped into. Prayer is an opening to the universality, to the Self that is in everything. That Self deserves our attention and our love and energy and gives it back thousand fold if we seek it first.

Creation and Communication
The bible repeatedly states that you should praise God. This hardly means that you should tell Him how wonderful He is. He has no ego with which to accept such praise, and no perception with which to judge it. But unless you take your part in the creation, His joy is not complete because yours is incomplete. And this he does know. He knows it in His Own Being and its experience of His Sons experience. The constant going out of His Love is blocked when His channels are closed, and he is lonely when the minds that He created do not communicate fully with Him.
A Course In Miracles
The Inner Divine Voice
There is a universal whisper pervading al of this creation. It is subtle, quiet, but it can be heard anywhere by anyone, even by the deaf. It has been called the Word, the Voice for God, the Comforter, the Holy Spirit, the Omega, the Omkara, the Primal Sound. Today many speak of the Guide or the Inner Divine Voice. The name doesn’t matter. This Voice always speaks to everyone; for every question we ask, there is always an answer. Actually there are two answers; there is the first answer, which is created by the limited individuality. This is the answer from ego’s perspective and is usually a justification for an action or thought that we intend but question.
The second answer comes from Universal Consciousness. This second is frequently called intuition; it is also sometimes interpreted as conscience. The first voice is sometimes called the voice of satan – the reason being that the two voices are diametrically opposed in their advice. Whatever they are called, one voice typically speaks for short-sighted and immediate gain of sensual gratification and experience and the second always speaks for Universal Love.

Falling asleep during Ascension is perfectly normal. Ascension gives us what we need. If you feel sleepy there is no need to resist it. When the body has gotten enough rest you will return to a more conscious awareness in your Ascension.
Rest is what the body most often lacks in this busy world and Ascension produces deeper rest than deepest sleep at night. So it is good to ascend before you go to bed because this will improve the quality of your sleep greatly.

Anyone can hear the Inner Divine Voice. At times in everyone it speaks quite loudly. But if we continually ignore it or attempt to deny it, its quiet voice will seem to grow more faint, until it may seem that there is no second voice at all. What is happening in this case is that our vibratory rate is becoming more coarse, more crude; the second voice is broadcasting on a subtle channel; we are shrouding our ability to hear that channel. The human nervous system has difficulty in being tuned to more than one station at a time; if our continual habit is to listen to the voice of limitation, the second voice will fade away.
It can never vanish altogether. Since each of us is a part of the Eternal Ascendant, it is impossible ever to be apart from it in reality. But if we continually turn away from

the subtle levels of experience, they will become as if silent and invisible to us.

Life and Teaching of the Masters of the Far East
As Jesus began speaking, a perfect calm came over the entire village and its inhabitants. These are His words, translated into English by Jesus Himself. My most fervent prayer will always be that I shall never forget them, though I live to be ten thousand years.
THE LIGHT
“As I stand alone in Your great silence, God my Father, in the midst of me there blazes a pure light and it fills every atom of my whole being with its great radiance. Life , Love, strength, Purity, Beauty, Perfection stand forth in all dominion within me. As I gaze into the very heart of this light, I see another light,- liquid, soft, golden-white and radiantly luminous,- absorbing, mothering and giving forth the caressing fire of the Greater Light.
“Now I know that I am God and one with God’s whole universe. I whisper to God my Father and I am undisturbed.”
STILL IN THE SILENCE
“Yet in this complete silence there exists God’s Greatest Activity. Again, I am undisturbed and complete silence is all about me. Now the radiance of this light spreads to God’s vast universe and every where I know there is God’s conscious life. Again I say fearlessly, I am God; I am silent and unafraid.
“I lift the Christ high within me and sing God’s praise. In the tones of my music inspiration hums. Louder and louder within me the Great Mother sings of new life. Louder and clearer with each ne day, inspiration is lifting my conscious thought until it is attuned to God’s rhythm. Again, I lift the Christ high and give close ear that I may hear the glad music. My keynote is harmony and the theme of my song is God and God seals my song as Truth.”
BEHOLD I AM BORNE ANEW, A CHRIST IS HERE
“I am free with the great light of Your spirit, God my Father, Your seal is placed upon my forehead. I accept.
“I hold your light high, God my Father. Again, I accept.”
Baird T. Spalding, Life and Teaching of the masters of the far east, Vol.3
Prayer in the Bible
Matthew 6:1-8
1"Be careful not to do your 'acts of righteousness' before men, to be seen by them. If you do, you will have no reward from your Father in heaven.
2"So when you give to the needy, do not announce it with trumpets, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and on the streets, to be honored by men. I tell you the truth, they have received their reward in full. 3But when you give to the needy, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing, 4so that your giving may be in secret. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you.
5"And when you pray, do not be like the hypocrites, for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and on the street corners to be seen by men. I tell you the truth, they have received their reward in full. 6But when you pray, go into your room, close the door and pray to your Father, who is unseen. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you. 7And when you pray, do not keep on babbling like pagans, for they think they will be heard because of their many words. 8Do not be like them, for your Father knows what you need before you ask him.
Colossians 4:2
2 Devote yourselves to prayer with an alert mind and a thankful heart.
Philippians 4:6-8
6Do not worry about anything. Talk to God about everything. Thank him for what you have. Ask him for what you need.
7Then God will give you peace, a peace which is too wonderful to understand. That peace will keep your hearts and minds safe as you trust in Christ Jesus.
8 Here, my brothers, are some things I want you to think on. Think on things that are true, honest, right, clean and pure, things that are lovely, and things that are good to talk about. If they are good, and if they bring praise to God, think these things.
Psalms 119:97
97 Oh, how I love your law! I meditate on it all day long.
Prayer
Prayer has many definitions and usages. It can be beseeching or asking for something in particular. It can be a plea or a demand when one feels desperate. It can be both a tearful and a joyful statement of thanksgiving for something received. It can be a simple statement of Praise and Gratitude for what is right now. It can be a statement of Praise and Gratitude for a desire already manifesting. It can be a silence, and in that silent stillness the awareness of the Presence of the Source Itself. A communion. A oneness (at-one-ment).
Although pleas and requests are among the most common of prayers, the Judea-Christian Tradition identifies the connection to the Divine Source, or God, as “Praying without ceasing”, or “the Peace that surpasses all understanding”. Other religions and cultures have their own words for this same experience. True Prayer can then be said to “be in the Presence of God.” The Ascension Attitudes are pure prayers so that each and every time we think one we automatically go to that Presence. We may or may not consciously recognize it at first, but the more we practice using the Attitudes eyes-closed and eyes-open, the more we will be in that Presence.
All of creation Praises. A good example is the sound of the crickets on the Ishaya’s Introductory CD. If you have not heard it, you can download it from the website. Another recent example was printed in the San Francisco Chronicle last week, where it stated that the earth itself is singing beautiful music while most of humanity is so caught up in their business and distractions that they don’t hear this amazing sound. You can find the article here.
Humans seem to be the only ones in creation who choose not to continually Praise. And why? It is because we have the incredible gift of free will. To choose in any moment how we wish to live our lives. Animals don’t have this gift. Plants don’t have it. Humans are blessed with the amazing gift of choice. In any moment, you can choose to Praise, or to complain, criticize, condemn, etc. In any moment means right now, right here, always. It is your choice to see yourself and others as victims, to be miserable, to see the world as cruel, or to simply choose for an Ascension Attitude and change your perception. It is simply how you perceive the world that makes it what it is for you.
In the Presence of God, what Maslow called the Peak Experience, there is only the Now. There are no problems, no worries, no disease or sickness to heal and nothing lacking. There is only the experience of Peace, of Harmony, of Contentment, of Oneness. The Ascension Attitudes are True Prayer. They are the Keys to the Kingdom of Heaven within. All you need to do is to use them, consistently, religiously, faithfully, always, forever now. Then from there, from that place of clarity and infinite potential, you can create the kind of life you wish to live, and you may find that it is already here, where it has always been. “As a man thinks in his heart, so he is” (Proverbs 23:7).
